Studio portrait of Lieutenant Colonel Urias H. Holmes of the 13th Canadian Mounted Rilfe Battalion. Though living in Saskatoon, Holmes enlisted in Alberta in March 1916 at age 52. One of his two sons, Willard Stanley Holmes (1st Depot Battalion, Manitoba Regiment, discharged in 1918 to enlist in the Royal Flying Corps) also served during the war.
