Description
By the spring of 1915 British General Haig had organized the 1st Canadian Division and charged them with holding the La Bassee Canal, not far from France's border with Belguim. As part of the 1st Canadian Division, the 3rd Canadian Infantry Brigade fought in every major Canadian engagement on the Western Front between 1915 and 1918. Its first commander was Colonel Richard Turner, then from March 1916 until the end of the war, Brigadier General George Tuxford.
