Aerial view of the Pyramids at Giza. British forces were active in Egypt during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign. They defended their hold on the Suez Canal, a vital route for provisions and ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) troops, and also engaged the German-backed Ottomans in places like Gallipoli, Sinai Penninsula, Jeruslaem, and Syria.
