Description
Studio portrait of Sydney Charles Stevens in military uniform with bandolier and cap and collar badges (possibly general service badges of the Canadian Engineers). The use of "SPR" designates Stevens as a sapper - a soldier with the rank of private who would have completed the engineer DP1 course. He was born in Westmount, Quebec in 1890, but lived in Ottawa, enlisting there in the spring of 1918 (recruitment form available).
