Description
One of three reservoirs near Hebron historically used to collect water for Bethlehem, Jerusalem and the surrounding area. Attributed to King Solomon and also Pontius Pilate. During 1917, the British engaged Ottoman troops at the Battle of Jerusalem. Before they could secure the city, two battles, Nebi Samwill (17-24 November, 1917) and the Defence of Jerusalem (26-30 December, 1917) were fought in the Judean Hills to the north and east of the Hebron–Junction Station line, not far from King Solomon's Pools.
