Description
Canadian soldiers from the 38th Battalion (Ottawa) entering the town of Valenciennes encoutering a barricade obstructing the street. The 38th Bn was mobilized in Ottawa in 1915, and arrived in France in 1916, as part of the 4th Canadian Division. They returned to Canada in 1919 after seeing action in Valenciennes as well as the Somme, Ypres, Vimy, Passchendaele, and a number of other battles.
