Soldiers advancing through the devestated terrain of 'No Man's Land' at Vimy Ridge. Identified as the 29th Battalion C.E.F, known as "Tobin's Tigers" afte Lieutenant-Colonel Tobin who raised the battalion in Vancouver, 1914. The Battle of Vimy Ridge, April 9-12, 1917 was a success for the Canadian Corps (though with a heavy cost at over 10,000 casualties), as they were able to take the ridge from the Germans after repeated attempts by the British and French had failed.
