Wide angle shot of soldiers carrying trench mats (also known as duckboards) that would be used to traverse muddy ground. The boards were used by troops in the trenchs to avoid trenchfoot, move over deep mud with their heavy equiptment, and over the cratered and water-logged battle fields of the Western Front.
