Cemetary at Etaples. 1917 [ASE label]
Wide angle view of the cemetery at Etaples, France. The location in the north of France in Pas-de-Calais made Etaples an important location as military camp and hospital city for wounded Allied soldiers on their way to Britain. The Germans were aware of this; a number of air raids conducted on the Etaples claimed many lives. The cemetery pictured here contains 12,000 graves.
