Description
[During the course of the war, large numbers of public and private properties served as auxillary hospitals to accomodate the large influx of wounded men from abroad. In Rawtenstall, the Haslingden Union Workhouse at Higher Pikelaw served as one of the 3,000 temporary hospitals that was run by the British Red Cross.]

[Reading the postcard, it appears it was sent by a member of staff at the military hospital.]
