Description
Snapshot of Canadian soldiers and engineers moving supplies across the Canal du Nord. The canal's construction was incomplete when the war began, and was an obstacle to Allied troops moving east. Flooded by the German troops, only a 4,000-metre stretch was left where the ground was firm and the canal dry.
