The J. Victor Taboika Collection counts over 70 original panoramic photographic images from the First World War, primarily of CEF battalions prior to their engagement on the Western Front. Upon arrival in England, many of these battalions were merged in to others or broken up for reinforcements, making these photographic documents all the more important.
This collection is the generous donation of the Calgary military historian and collector, J. Victor Taboika, and has been digitised and catalogued with the support of the Documentary Heritage Communities Program, an initiative of Library and Archives Canada.
La collection J. Victor Taboika comporte plus de 70 photographies panoramiques originales de la première guerre mondiale, principalement des bataillons des forces expéditionnaires canadiennes avant leur engagement sur le front occidental. A leur arrivée en Angleterre, plusieurs de ces bataillons furent fusionnés ou divisés suivant les besoins de renforts, ce qui donne à ces photographies toute leur importance.
La collection est un généreux don de l’historien militaire et collectionneur de Calgary J. Victor Taboika, et a été numérisée et cataloguée avec le soutien du Programme pour les collectivités du patrimoine documentaire, une initiative de Bibliothèque et Archives Canada.
